High Blood Pressure

by By Yvonne
(england)

I am 35 years old and I have 3 children. I developed high blood when I was pregnant for the 3rd baby. I was on medication and everything was normalised until I gave birth. AFTER birth it started rising again and has been mostly 161 over 105 and sometimes to 180. For two weeks today since I gave birth, it has not normalised. I am taking the necessary medications recommended by my doctor but each time I check and realise it has not gone down I feel more worried so I don`t check as often as before and I commit everything into the hands of GOD.

MY MOTHER IS suffering from it and sometimes it goes to 275 she said but nothing happened. We give God the glory because if he says yes nobody can say no and if he says no nobody can say yes.

Take It Easy
by: Alex

I believe that meditation helps. Just step out of the World for a while and smell the roses. Don't do anything. Listen to the sounds and look at the view...20 minutes of absolute detachment can work wonders. Does for me anyhow.

Menstrual Cycle and HBP
by: Valerie Baker - Hoover, AL

Hi! I developed high blood pressure during my first pregnancy, and I still have it after three years. I was actually diagnosed with postpartum cardiomyopathy (sp?) but that's another story. Anyway, my BP is always in the range of 125/75 to 138/84.
I do take medications for it. I have noticed, however, that one to two days before my period starts, my BP jumps to 150/100 or higher. More studies need to be done on this odd phenomenon. Just my opinion...I wrote about it so others would not feel alone if they experience what I do every month. Oh, and please forgive any typos. I'm using my phone to write this post.

I too had issues with high BP after my first child
by: Anonymous

I had my first and only child in 2007, toward the end of the pregnancy I started to have abnormally high blood presure 140/90. Not normal for me. After my shild was born the issues got worse, high BP and cholesterol. Then I started having issues with my heart... Needless to say it was NOT fun at all. Aftere my high cholesterol diagnosis, I made HUGE life style changes. Walking every day up to 3 times a day, eating properly as well as using niacin. A banana a day has really helped my blood preasure... I also use high antioxidant foods, they also aide in many things. The doctors said if I didn't get it under control them (I was 22) I wouldn't like past 24.. I am 26 today, happy, healthy and eating all the right things (mostly). I really have to give thanks to websites such as this, I would have been lost and potentially dead without this support. Please, watch what you eat, watch how lazy you become. It can bite you in the bottom later.

Oxidised Protein Causes Preeclampsia
by: Gem

Hello Yvonne

This may be of interest to you! Some very significant findings were discovered by scientists from Cambridge University, UK in 2010. In their investigation of what leads to pre-eclampsia they learned that the protein angiotensinogen changes shape when it becomes oxidised. The shape it forms into makes it easy for common enzymes to split it and release angiotensins, a hormone that constricts blood vessels. In normal people, 60% of this protein is oxidised, but in cases of preeclampsia it is much higher.

Researchers are excited at the prospect of the discovery which could lead to new ways of treating not only women with preeclampsia but others who suffer from high blood pressure.

Some people prefer to use natural means of helping themselves, and nature provides an abundance of natural anti-oxidants (free radical scavengers).

Higher BP Prior to Onset of Menstruation.
by: Mary from Illinois

I have definitely noticed that my bp goes up before I get my period. I have always assumed this is because of increased water retention. But it is consistent and I actually just did a search on this phenomena to find out whether this is, in fact, normal.

Back to your doctor. Quick smart
by: Anonymous

These high BP levels are life-threatening. Go back to your doctor and visit him daily 'til it's under control. No 'ifs' no 'buts' do it now and right away.
