Title: Taking too many BP medicines?

I'm wondering if it is typical to be placed on so many blood pressure medicines at one time. My friend is taking Hydroclorot(1/2 of a 25mg), Cozaar(50mg), and Metoprolol (100gm) for her high BP. Do you know why she would be on 3 at the same time? Her original BP was 220 over something and it is down to 147 over something.

Hi Evelyn, it is quite common and the ethical thing to do, because those readings are quite high. The doctor would be acting out of concern for her well being.

What can be done once it is under control, is that your friend can talk with her doctor and work along with him/her to determine other ways to control or bring down her blood pressure, gradually reduce, and even possibly, finish using prescription drugs.
