Steve's Story

(Mitcham)
Hello,
My name is Steve. In 1994 I was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic and put on tablets. Four years later, my blood pressure was high but I managed to control it without medication. However in 1999 my new GP (my previous one retired) put me on tablets for my blood pressure problems.
While still at work I enjoyed walking during my lunch break and found that it helped to keep my blood pressure in check. Since retiring, I endeavour to walk anything between 30 minutes and two hours every day and find the benefit to both my blood pressure and my diabetes very good.
I usually check my blood pressure at the weekends and find that it is always within the prescribed range, never high or too low.
Walking as a form of exercise has really helped me to enjoy better health.
