“They say beauty is only skin deep, but the truth about chemicals in cosmetics, dictates that beauty comes from within not what we put on the skin” – J. Goulbourne.

Chemicals in face make-up and other cosmetics have been proven to cause Hypertension

Many of us are unaware of the dangers and the impact on our health that some chemicals in cosmetics, personal care products and cleaning agents pose.

The accumulation of heavy metals present in those chemicals like mercury, lead, arsenic, cadmium, aluminum and a range of others, occur because the body cannot metabolize them. This toxic store soon leads to poisoning of systems and cause health problems like secondary hypertension.

In fact, according to World Health Organization (WHO), 82% of all chronic degenerative diseases are caused by environmental exposure to toxic metals. That`s alarmingly high! Fortunately, Bob Weldon, author of Toxic Metal Ch-elation, is on a mission to expose these dangers and invites all who suffer from degenerative diseases like high blood pressure, to investigate the evidence and learn how toxic metal ch-elation helped his wife enjoy a better quality of life.

What is L-arginine, and what is it`s role in regulating blood pressure?

It has been labelled a non-essential amino acid basically because our own body manufactures it in measure. We also need to boost it from the foods we eat and through physical activity, but the worse our diets and the more sedentary our lifestyles become, this amino acid in reality takes on the “essential” so to speak.

Arginine is needed to bio-synthesize super nitric oxide which is transported by hemoglobin around the body for vital organs that need it and our cardiovascular system is included. It reacts on the lining of blood vessels (endothelium) to stimulate the smooth muscle to relax reducing high blood pressure, so if we are lacking in some way we are more likely to develop hypertension.

So you might conclude that the solution is easy then. Just supplement with l-arginine! This has been successful for many people. Dr. Ignarro, Nobel prize winner who discovered the importance of nitric oxide in its role to open blood vessels helps us understand that not only will supplementing this amino acid reduce blood pressure in some but …

What are the needed vitamins for high blood pressure?

Two that have a major effect on the cardiovascular system are:

Vitamin C will help strengthen the arteries by promoting collagen production. It is also known to be one of the strongest and abundant anti-oxidants found in healthy diets.

Vitamin E is for the heart. Once you have found what is causing your arteries to be blocked or constricted and start rectifying the condition so blood can flow easily then an increase in vitamin E will strengthen your heart to be more powerful.

Why Natural and Organic is best

You could be thinking that buying a multi-vitamin is the wisest choice you can make. Should you choose a wide range of vitamins combined in one convenient pill or several different vitamin pills? Whatever your choice, is it not because you believe this will ensure your body gets the vitamins you may be lacking in?

Well, there`s a fair chance you would be throwing your money down the toilet! Yes, and I mean too. Let me explain.

Vitamins are co-enzymes. In other words, they work in partnership with …

I considered this again in my life. When I was in my 20’s, I maintained a diet full of fruits and veggies, coupled with daily exercise, I was healthy.
Now, nearing 50, and having recently been diagnosed with HBP, and told to go on a diuretic. Never again. My blood pressure came down some, but there are other underlying factors. I quit the meds and took my life in my own hands. My bp is very high. I always believed that this is the way to go, not pills, which mask the problems and create new ones so you can get more pills. Other than vitamins, I hate pills.
I’m currently struggling, but have noticed a difference when adding to my water intake and juicing. Not enough yet as I have yet to rule out the 2 bad, abscessed teeth. One tooth has been addressed, finishing root canal tomorrow, the other tooth, jammed into my sinus’, it’s coming out the next day. With the help of antibiotics, increased water intake and juicing, not to mention monitoring my diet a little closer, and exercise, I’m …

How to lower high blood pressure? That question in itself can make one anxious. But there is a way that is naturally and has quick results!

If you are confused as to what to do or use, and how to do or use it, then your not alone.

Do I receive questions and statements such as – “Could you please suggest a brand of supplement and a specific choice within that brand?

We asked the question in Part 1 of this subject, calcium deficiency and its symptoms, “Does supplementing calcium in people aged 50+ with osteoporosis cause an increased heart attack by 30% as researchers discovered?” Or could there be another hidden cause?

Understanding Calcium Deficiency – Use some common sense!

To begin with, this subject calls for some good old fashioned common sense! How much milk do you drink in a day? How much Cheese or yogurt do you eat in a week? How much broccoli, baked beans, chick peas, salmon, sardines, pasta, rice, bread, cheesecakes, and ice cream do you eat in a month???

The list goes on and on, and I`m presuming you eat some of these as staple foods, frequently. They all have a high calcium content, so do we need to supplement? Are the supplements better absorbed than these foods? Hardly!

Research has enlightened us that osteoporosis, bone fractures, high blood pressure, and heart disease have increased rather than decreased even although we have followed these international health guidelines to combat calcium deficiency. So something is amiss. It`s high time we took a look at some facts …

Can taking a daily clove of garlic lower blood pressure? Here are some facts on how it works.

The alliin compound becomes allincin (one of about a 100 sulphur compounds). The chemicals contained in garlic are stable as long as the cloves in the bulb aren’t damaged, but when we take our daily clove of garlic or two and crush, bruise or chop them, an enzyme called alliinase reacts with another compound called alliin, instantly producing the sulfur compound allicin which is the cause of the herbs` smell, taste and therapeutic properties.

There are protective health benefits from taking a daily clove of garlic. You can combat the onset of heart disease and other cardiovascular diseases with the powerful compound allicin in garlic. Hypertension is known to be lowered by several actions of this compound. As an antioxidant, it has the ability to fight free radical damage, caused by high blood pressure and other problems such as acidosis, (a result of the pH balance in the blood and other organs being too acidic).

t also has blood thinning properties, helping to keep the blood platelets from being too sticky, …

The level of potassium in foods listed here, classifies them under the “very good” category.

They are listed as numbers 31 to 35 in my list of foods rich in potassium.

  • 31 Asparagus
  • 32 Carrot
  • 33 Plum
  • 34 Radish
  • 35 Turnip

I am glad to say that all of these foods are relatively common, and can be found in your local markets and stores, and this is the season for radishes, carrots and asparagus.

Take note of each foods value to calculate your potassium RDA.

31. Asparagus – a. racemosus, a. lucidus, a. officinalis – 100g raw = 260 mg of potassium

Did you know that the Brits have the best asparagus in the world? I have a “wisp” of it in my garden which only serves as an ornament. It is the asparagus racemosus species I think because it’s blooming now in this month of August.

(See my snap to the left)

It can be quite pricey, but that’s understandable as it has to be hand picked.

The Benefits of eating Asparagus

The level of potassium in foods needs to be significant enough to be of benefit to those …

High blood pressure and alcohol? Does drinking help or cause more problems? An elderly friend of mine once told me that her doctor said she should taking a glass of red wine every day because it was good for her heart.

That delighted her a great deal resulting in her establishing a routine in no time for taking her daily elixir. On the other hand, however, patients have been told by their doctors not to consume alcohol because it is one of the common high blood pressure causes that will not only elevate it but do all sorts of other underlying damage. Are you confused? Why is such widely contradictory advice given to patients. What are we to believe? Most of us would like to choose the former, but fear the latter. A brief look at some facts should do the trick, dispel any fears, or at least help us to get things into perspective.

Changes in French Cultural Drinking Habits. Why?

Do you like a glass or two? Or perhaps you live in France where the cultural habit of consuming wine at mealtimes has molded your thinking. Well some changes …
